Second week Report 03 August 2025
The Regattas are over for another year and friends have bidden farewell and promised to meet again in a year’s time.
It’s been a fantastic two weeks with no races cancelled due to poor weather, hardly a drop of rain to dampen the spirits, and a great atmosphere of friendly competition on the water.

The second week started off with the “Race Through” from Beaumaris to Caernarfon through the infamous Swellies and under the bridges.
A favourite race for many with as scenic a course as any could wish and plenty of opportunity for racing tactics.

Tuesday and Wednesday had us racing at Caernarfon with her famous castle as a backdrop hosted by the Royal Welsh Yacht club whose clubhouse is in the medieval walls looking out over the Strait.
CYC was represented by COD Gwalch and Mylne Merfyn

Our return to Beaumaris was an easy ride on the tide with our outboard adding a little assistance.
Saturday dawned with very light winds but again the tide was our friend for the homecoming “Race Back” to Conwy and the wind filled in to help us home.
Llongifarchiadau to team Alys who finished 50 yards ahead after a 3 hour sail!

Thanks to all who participated and supported the CYC teams in the Regattas this year!
This year’s Regattas may be over but there is still half the CYC sailing programme to enjoy this year, and the dates for next year’s Regattas have already been set: 27th July to 8th August.
See you there!
